24 Seven Staten Island's own 24 Seven rocks into its eighth year of entertaining audiences throughout the metro area. From the British invasion to K-Rock radio fare and Top 40, the hard working quartet covers all the bases.
4 WHEEL DRIVE  4 Wheel Drive was considered one of the hottest shows around! This popular cover band out of Staunton, Illinois rocked the metro east area for over 7 years from 2002 to 2009. Performances included towns like Litchfield, Gillespie, Edwardsville and Collinsville with many venues and private functions added all the time. The professional 4-member group consisting of husband and wife team Dave “Slick” Martintoni on guitar and vocals, Tammy Martintoni on bass guitar and lead vocals, joined forces with their son Mike Martintoni on drums and Gene Lilly on Guitar, Vocals and Keyboards as most cover bands do... in the basement. In the end after Mike and Gene departed, the linup was; Edwardsville’s Steve McCormick on drums and percussion, and the last addition of "Sparky" Mark Potillo from Granite City on lead guitar and vocals. 4 Wheel Drive performed songs from today, back through the 90's, 80's, 70's and some off the beaten path. They took great pride in surprising folks with a show that went beyond the basic bar fare. Through their live and energetic shows, they continued to keep people coming back for more with an unmistakable song list covering artists like Pat Benetar, Scandal, Joan Jett, Melissa Ethridge, Lita Ford, Heart, Pink, Journey, Janis Joplin, Stevie Nicks & Tom Petty just to name a few, with the equipment that not many cover bands of today can claim to have let alone even use.

Bad Habit  Bad Habit was formed in October of 2003 when six guys came together to form the hottest band around. The band played together for two weeks and they were ready and they made their first performance together in Meherrin Virginia. The crowd absolutely love them. The band is made up of Barry Snoddy on lead vocals, Jerry Pope on guitar, Jonathan Sharpe (JJ) on Lead guitar, Wayne Wilmoth on Bass, Tommy Dolan on Keys and Keith Brooks on Drums. blue mass appeal  Lyndi is the founder of Blue Mass Appeal. This project was started in 2004 and continues to go strong. This was her first experience as a performing musician. Thanks to all of the talented musicians who have passed through she has come a long way to say the least. She provides keyboards and shares vocals with the other members of the band. She has proven over time that she is force to be reckoned with. Though her strength vocally was in rock music, she can also belt out a country tune with the best of them.
Though there have been changes to the band members over the years, she makes sure the band continues to maintain mass appeal with the audience. Initially the idea was to bring in mostly classic rock covers but as time went by the band got a lot of requests for other music such as country, dance , and some harder/metal type covers. Blue mass appeal is now at a point where they can bring more variety and appeal to a larger audience. This is what makes the band special. Not only can they do any genre of music, they can do it well.
You will not be disappointed and you will appreciate their need to give an audience what they want most...variety. The band does not necessarily have a lead singer but 3 singers. This allows for even more variety. The band consists of 4 members.

What does the BLUE MASS APPEAL mean??? Well thanks to a websters dictionary, the word “blue mass” caught Lyndi's attention while trying to come up with a catchy but meaningful name for the band. She read the definition : a blue pill used in the 1800's which included mercury as its main ingredient among various others and used to treat a wide variety of illnesses such as tuberculosis, constipation, toothache, and the pains of childbirth...and list goes on and on. It was a cure all pill so to speak. With that in mind the name would fit the vision. Mass Appeal was another option but was too generic, and obvious but when blue mass was added to appeal, that gave it a double meaning so to speak. AHH HAA and the band was named. Blue Mass Appeal can play any type of venue, party, or special event. They continue to be one of the most popular bands in West Texas and most requested and their fan base is incredible.

“If you build it, they will come.” That’s been the motto since the beginning for B/S. Five seasoned musicians operating on one belief; if you take the time to be as authentic as possible and act professionally in every aspect, the rest will take care of itself. And it has!!
In the two years since the bands inception, they have played for tens of thousands in dozens of cities across the Southwestern United States.

•A debut show in front of 1100 people performing with the Atomic Punks at the Marquee Theater in Tempe, May 2007

•July 2008 saw the realization of a major goal of the band, headlining the Marquee Theater. Since that time they have been invited back to headline the Marquee repeatedly. It is the only Phoenix, East Valley venue that can accommodate local B/S fans.

Cover Story is a classic rock, dance, variety, five piece band consisting of guitar, bass, drums, and keyboards. All five members (4 males and 1 females) sing lead as well as background vocals. Our Keyboardist doubles on trumpet and acoustic guitar, and our female doubles on keys and saxaphone. All members, except our drummer, are wireless, allowing them to interact and engage the crowd, bring the show to them, and make them part of it. Cover Story's goals are to play for an average of two to three weekends a month. In addition, we rehearse three to four times a month. We add at least two to four songs every month, keeping the band fresh, and with the depth of our present song list, we vary our show each evening. We play a variety of material, and are able to please a wide range of crowds. A songwriter (Grand prize winner in the Nashville Music City Song Festival, finalist American song festival), John has had songs featured on ABC TV soap "General Hospital", The Nashville Network's "Nashville Now", VH1 TV shows "The fabulous life of country superstars" and "Driven" (which also featured Grammy winner, Usher!) and on an episode of "The Sopranos" (A&E network). Covert's songs have been featured on "California love-in", an album released in England that also features songs from Steppenwolf, of "born to be wild" fame.
Michael Samaritano-(guitar/vocals) Michael recorded for Columbia Records at the age of 16. He opened shows for The Shirelles and The Chiffons, was a stuntman for 8 years in various commercials and movies, did shows with Patti La Belle, "Murray the K" (famous New York City DeeJay, producer & promoter) and performed in a theatrical production of "Joseph and the technicolor dreamcoat". An ex-movie stuntman, Michael brings excitement to the stage and audience with his crazy antics and excellent vocal renditions of artists like James Taylor, John Fogerty or his memory-filled 60's persona of "Bufallo" featured in the Hippie Party show.
Steve Farrell - (Harmonica/Guitar/Vocals) Steve can explode onstage with fiery blues/rock harmonica solos or weave beautiful soft, soulful notes into songs like "Nowhere man" or "Angel from Montgomery".

Cyclone A Buffalo-born Metal band.Founded in December 2004 by vocalist Shawn Lewis and drummer Rudy Chakraborty. Joined by Solomon Karchefsky and Chris Woodruff, Rudy switched to Bass Guitar, and the Band formed. Currently the band is working on its first album.
NOTE: In February of 2005, Cyclone broke up due to many grevious circumstances. Rudy and Solomon went off to start a new band. The only songs ever recorded by Cyclone were "Rock Bottom" written by Rudy. Rock Bottom was scrapped from the Cyclone shelf and is being incorporated into a new album by Rudy and Solomons new band, The Xerxes Effect.

Five - Car Garage  ... And who ever said kids couldn't rock? The rock/ alternative band hailing from Long Beach, CA, are taking on the challenge of creating a band and actually getting into it. Many upcoming singles to be released when the bands journey to rock begins is keeping many fans in a hunger for their new songs.
The band is made of five kids, as said by the title "Five - Car Garage:" Austin Padilla, 11, is the lead singer and overall leader of the group, as said by other band mates. He is also the oldest in the group. Carl Hatch, 10, is a singer as well, and is the youngest in the group, but, true as this may be, he carries a powerful voice that will take many by surprise. Chris Baker, 10, is the lead guitarist of the group, though suspicions have it that other band mates are learning to play guitar for a side guitarist. He is probably the most hyper kid in the group. Tyler Cleveland, 10, is the pianist of the group, and is also quite hyper at times as well. He loves cracking jokes during practice, or anywhere else for that matter. Alex Derrick, 11, is the drummer of the group and has two brothers, which keeps him used to having craziness at practice. Though not the most organized, he sometimes has to have thing orderly, which is a good thing for a band of five fifth graders. The band is going to start selling tickets and preforming concerts as soon as their first album is released, they have said. They have many ideas for songs already, even though they've been a band for a short period of time. "We've been waiting for a chance like this for a while," Austin has said,"With all of the publicity and everything, it's the biggest thing in the world. I couldn't ask for anything more."

Kenny has relocated to a country estate in upstate New York (back to his roots) and has partnered with two new band members from the area. Kenny has returned to the roots of American rock and blues. Joining Kenny are Johnny B., drummer/vocalist and Victor Rapozo, bass/vocalist. Both individuals have a tremendous amount of experience in the business. Johnny B. comes from Huntington, Long Island, New York and has been playing in various clubs and other top venues, doing rock and blues and has found a tight groove with the other members of the band.. Johnny B produces a unique quality of style and sound, blending the backbeat of modern and roots rock. Victor is a native of Broome County, playing large venues in the tri-upstate area and has been performing the majority of his life with an original touch of rock and blues. Meatplow  Meatplow was formed in the Spring if 2003 to pay tribute to one of the best, yet most under-appreciated, grunge bands of all time, The Stone Temple Pilots.
From the release of their first album "Core" in 1992, STP was critiqued in the press as being too derivative of bands like Pearl Jam, Nirvana, and Alice in Chains, even though their craftmanship was unmistakable and unique. In 1994 STP released a follow up LP, "Purple" which contained several hit singles, but this album also did not recieve any critical acclaim. This travesty was the inspiration for Meatplow. With undeniably memorable rock anthems like Plush, Sex Type Thing, Interstate Love Song, Dead and Bloated, and Unglued, the Stone Temple Pilots deserve love and respect for all of their efforts over the years. Putting together Meatplow was a fitting way to honor this remarkable band and reming aal of those who love rock and roll what superior songwriting and quality musicianship is all about. Sekond Nature  Originally from Port Washington New York, Juan and Freddy previously played together in the hard rock band 'Graphic.' The two have played in New York City's finest venues, such as CBGB's, Limelight, Elbow Room, Continental, and many more. The duo has reunited after a two-year hiatus, which saw both members experiment in solo projects. Their voices and creativity combine to generate beautiful harmonies and deeply lyrical tunes. SeKond Nature is a two man Dynamic Acoustic Original Rock group, with very melody driven and very catchy original music, it has been described as "pop". They have a strong Latin influence thanks to Juan Pablo's Argentine family roots, and a few songs are bilingual.
SeKond Natures music has been compared to a cross between the Goo Goo Dolls, Matchbox 20, U2, and the Counting Crows.
The music's fresh, unique sound speaks for itself, helped by the two members' great stage presence led by their lead singer Juan Pablo. SeKond Nature have been playing since May 2005, live and loud as a cover/original band around the South Florida area. Joe and Tommy have been playing in bands for over 20 years and were hanging out in a local boardwalk bar in Seaside and were discussing about how a lot of the bands sound the same these days They all play the same tunes, and put on the same show, So they decided they wanted to do some thing differant. Shuvlhed  Shuvlhed has been rocking The Northern Illinois Area since 2004. Shuvlhed has set themselves apart from the rest of the local bands as a top contender in the local Rock n Roll arena. Shuvlhed a 4pc band, brings their unique sound and a stage presence that energizes their audience, with the sounds of Heart, Metallica, Ozzy, Bon Jovi, Nickelback, Kid Rock, Elvis, Ac/Dc, Twisted Sister and Big & Rich to name a few.
Shuvlhed has been a local favorite in the Northern Illinois and continues to build a wide fan base, hitting clubs & festivals from Rockford to DeKalb to the Western Suburb’s.
In January of 2008 Shuvlhed was pleased to announce that they’d been nominated for a RAMI (Rockford Area Music Industry Award) under the “New Act” category. After a period of voting, Shuvlhed was Awarded the Rami Award at the 2008 Rami Award Ceremony in Rockford. Then in 2009 Shuvlhed again was nominated for another Rami in the classic rock division.
In May of 2009 Shuvlhed released its long awaited debut album titled “Never Rest”.
Also this past May Shuvlhed was selected by 15 judges @ Briggs & Stratton engines as a top 4 finalist out of 800 bands nationwide to compete in the first ever Briggs & Stratton engines Battle of the Bands. Shuvlhed finished in 3rd place in this national based contest.
Shuvlhed has also made a name for themselves as a band that like’s to give back to their community, as this past August of 2009 Shuvlhed & The Resource Bank teamed up to hold the 4th annual concert fundraiser called “Charity Rocks”, which Shuvlhed created to help local food pantries fill their shelves with food for those who are less fortunate. Since starting Charity Rocks, Shuvlhed has been able to raise over $5900.00 for the Genoa-Kingston, & Kirkland food Pantry’s.
Shuvlhed will be teaming up with the Resource Bank again in 2010 for the 5th annual Charity Rocks concert.
For those of you that don’t know, a Shovelhead is a Harley Davidson style engine, however we don't want to confuse anyone as we do spell our name differently than the infamous motorcycle company.
The meaning of Shuvlhed is about a person that has been beaten down all their life, but even in the end , never gave up hope! It is our goal to instill a little bit of Shuvlhed in everyone that gets the chance to see our show. Our hope is that when you leave a Shuvlhed show , you will have felt like you've been empowered and we hope you leave feeling energized! At that point we feel we've met our goal and you will have been forever Shultized! Lucky You!!
We liked our name so much that in 2006 we Trademarked the name Shuvlhed & our Shovel in the Skull logo with the United States Patent & Trademark office. Then in August of 2008 we were handed a lawsuit from a band in Los Angeles California called Shovelhead. They claimed that our trademark would hinder them from obtaining the rights to their name. After months of litigation both bands agreed to coexist and without any further problem we were able to keep our trademark and they were able to receive theirs.

Stone Dust  Stone Dust formed in 2005. Most of the members come from the cover band called, "Stone Cold." Stone Cold was formed Jan. 1991. We did shows in the local Worcester area playing rock covers. After a year or so we all went our separate ways, started families and so on. In 2005 we rejoined, minus the guitar work of Kory's brother, Kerry. He moved out to Cape Cod. So the band was almost back together, unfortunately we didn't have Kerry so we decided to change the name because it wouldn't be the same without him. We wanted something to remind us of our past and Kerry.. Thus the word "Stone." Instead of "Cold" we tosses in it's place "Dust." It took many month's of tossing around different Idea's. We even played out as a nameless band . We had people fill out cards asking for suggestions of names for the band. Some of them where really funny. "Randy and the three little pig's" was one of them.
On another note, A while back we got word that our bass player Skip had fallen very ill. He decided to take a break from the band while he recovered. While he was resting up he asked us to keep playing and find someone to fill in while he was gone. That wouldn't be an easy task but we managed to find the best person to fill his roll, Jefferson. His true passion is guitar but he accepted our invitation and has been plugging away on the bass for some time now. Once Skip is feeling better, we're planning on Skip to take his spot back on bass, and Russ and Jeff will both be playing guitar. We really love playing music, and look forward to playing clubs, private party's, you name it!! Check back often because we plan on posting all our shows here on our myspace. The SuperBooty Ensemble was formed in May of 1995 as a creative vehicle for Tornado's cartoon-like artistic vision, which combines a high-camp attitude with a musical form of slapstick comedy. The Bill Ali Band  The Bill Ali Band was formed in 2006 with some of the best musicians in the Pittsburgh area. The Bill Ali Band Performs Music from the 60’s, 70’s, 80’s, and 90’s, however what makes them different from all other cover bands is their unique style of taking these great classic tunes and adding their own personal touch that transforms them to fit into today’s modernized rock sounds. Members of the band are Bill Ali pronounced (Bill AL-EYE) vocals/acoustic guitar and former front man of the Toast Band one of Pittsburgh's best rock bands for many years. Bill's slashing acoustic guitar work is a sight to be seen. Next you have Matt Barranti guitar/vocals from the Matt Barranti Band he is one of only a handful of musicians to be invited to play at the sliders ball in Macon Georgia. If you've ever heard of the Allman Brothers Band, chances are pretty good that you have heard of The Matt Barranti Band, Matt's style on the bottle slide has earned him respect nation-wide! Tom (Huck) Huchel Bass Guitar/Vocals Huck started in the music business at the age of 10. Self taught, Huck has mastered the trumpet, guitar, piano, and bass guitar, Huck's solid thump contributes to the unique sound the band has developed. George Harris percussion/drums/vocals, George is a former member of Gass House Annie, George has performed all over the country and adds the spice of life to the band with his unique talents. Bill Henningman on Drums is the former drummer of the Toast Band, Bill is considered to be a master of the skins by all who have witnessed his style, his smooth form is truly remarkable! Backing up the band is Mike Zaremba stage lighting/sound/promotions; Mike was the guy behind the scenes for 36 years with the Toast Band providing all the theatrics from laser lights to flash pods and continues to this day with the Bill Ali Band. Then there is Steve (Eddy 60 minute man) Stein the roadie Steve does it all to help the band out from equipment to drinks!

The Boothill Express Band 
The Boothill Express Band plays a unique blend of country and rock n roll. Their style is self described as "Country That Rocks". The band's popularity has grown tremendously over the years. The show is a high energy show with plenty of spontaneity and audience participation. They are also known for their tight harmonies. The Boothill Express Band were recipients of the 2008 Worcester(MA)/ Pulse Magazine music award and 2009 finalist, in the Country / American category. The band's resume includes being the openeing band for national act THE FOOLS and jamming with blues legend JAMES MONTGOMERY.

The Groove Duo  Since their beginning, The Groove duo has become Texas' favorite acoustic entertainment, performing all styles of music to rave audiences all over the state. The duo’s show is an exciting combination of classic rock, oldies, country, and modern rock . The duo can easily read the crowd and play exactly the right songs to get the crowd going. The duo consists of Ron Ronhaar on vocals and guitar, and Todd Drye on vocals, guitar and percussion. Both are members of the local top forty, and variety band “The Grooves”, and incorporate their showmanship from their big band to their acoustic show, to electrify and thrill audiences across the state. The duo can also upsize to a trio by adding a blazing percussion section if a larger version is desired. Percussionist Ryan White has beefed up the groove for countless shows with the duo and also dazzles the crowd with his dynamic prowess on the tenor and soprano saxophone.
The Grooves  Since their beginning in 1991, The Grooves have become a favorite of Texas bands, performing all styles of music to rave audiences in Austin, Dallas, Houston, San Antonio, and across Texas. The Grooves' show is an exciting combination of classic rock, Motown, oldies, disco, rock and roll, country, standards, swing, eighties dance, plus all the most up to date dance music. Though based in Austin, Texas, The Grooves travel statewide across Texas to play countless events including wedding receptions, corporate parties, Holiday parties, birthday parties, graduation parties, barmitzvahs and reunions.
The Gurus  The Gurus are a three-piece teenage Connecticut rock band. We take heavy influence from the classic rock of the Sixties, from bands such as The Beatles, Cream, The Jimi Hendrix Experience, The Who, The Animals, and The Grateful Dead. We play both Sixties covers and originals.

Wait; make that a top-hat-for-fucking-top-hat, attitude-for-attitude, tribute band to Appetite for Destruction. We are here to keep alive the spirit of '87 and give to you what we are, in turn, giving ourselves. And that is the rock that you just don't hear anymore. There just aren't bands like the Guns N' Roses of '87 around these days. Just try and find an album that rocks as hard as Appetite for Destruction. Since no other band or album has come close to continuing where Appetite left off, and since GNR themselves no longer play these songs in this fashion, we have taken it upon ourselves to do our best to re-live this era. This music is for us, in that we want to recapture the feelings and vibes from those long since past days. And this music is for all of you out there who miss the GNR of long ago. We intend to give you another go around. You might notice that we have taken some liberties with this group. The most noticeable being our stage names. We have done this because we have a sense of humor and have trouble taking much of anything in this world too seriously. To paraphrase a line of dialog from the Simpson's: we need a name that is funny the first time, but less and less funny each time thereafter. If these names make you smile, great. If these names upset you, if you feel like we are degrading or mocking GNR, great. GNR had a habit of pissing people off. They lived their lives for themselves; doing, saying, and being what ever they wanted to be. Now, granted, we might not embody all of the same lines of thinking that GNR did (sometimes expressed through lyrics in One in a Million) but we do represent the attitude. So if these names, or anything to do with us, piss you off that is great. It means we are doing an even better job of replicating GNR than we expected. We are readily available to play throughout Northern California, but we are eager to travel. If you would like us to show up and in your shantytown please get in touch.

The Therapy Band  Music is Therapy……Therapy is music. The Therapy Band is an uncommon classic rock project designed to rehabilitate your soul.
Each member of the band represents decades of experience at honing his/her craft. Superb instrumental arrangements combined with stunning four-part harmonies, are delivered by state-of-the-art sound and lighting systems. The Therapy Band concept is a strong focus on material audiences are familiar with but don’t often, if ever, hear live…..B-sides, for lack of a better term. This approach mines the mother lode of great, classic music that is often ignored by, or beyond the abilities of the typical band. Songs that are familiar, recognizable and enjoyable. From the catharsis of a rock and roll roadhouse to the precise execution of a satisfying entertainment event, The Therapy Band delivers an uncompromising sonic performance guaranteed to please a wide range of audiences.
The Trux band  The Trux consists of 4 talented musicians on stage along with several extremely supportive friends and family behind the scenes that help make this band look and sound great. The style of this group is mainly "3 Decades of Rock" from the 60s, 70s, and 80s with a couple of tunes from other eras, just to shake things up. Amazingly enough, all four members have been connected in some way over a span of more than 20 years. After getting out of the US Navy in the fall of 1983, Ross invited Joe over to his house for a jam session in hopes of putting a band together. When nothing materialized from that, Ross joined Jim in a band called "Colt". Colt made many appearances in the Cedar Rapids / Marion area, playing in a variety of clubs, including "The Glass Parrot", "The RainTree Lounge", and "Kitty's Place" at the Longbranch Supper Club. When Colt broke up in the summer of 1984, Jim and Ross teamed up with Skip to form a band called "Spellbound". Spellbound toured in the southeast coner of Iowa, playing clubs like: "Dillions", "Gaucho's", "Kitty's", "King Tut's Lounge" of Cedar Rapids, "Fox's Lounge" of Ottumwa, IA, "OK Lounge" of Marion, IA, and "The Cavern" of Moline, IL. When Spellbound broke up in the fall of 1985, Ross rejoined the Navy. Jim, Skip, and Joe formed a band called, "Blue Collar Rock". After several name changes and varions personnel, Jim, Skip, and Joe played for years as a 3-piece band, calling themselves, "The Trux". When Ross could find time to take leave from the Navy, he would return to Iowa and visit his former bandmates at their various gigs. Ross retired from the Navy in 2000, but remained in the Virginia Beach, VA area, playing in various popular bands. When his last band broke up in 2005, he returned to his home of origin, and asked his former bandmates if they would like to add a keyboardist back into the line-up. Now, with a thicker, more orchestrated sound, The Trux continues to entertain audiences of all ages with great tunes of 3 decades. Also, in the near future, we will be introducing some new original music currently being produced in JTB studios. Time Warp  A two piece combo which through the use of current day technology is able to produce the sound of a four piece band in order to replicate the sound of the music covered during the 1960’s through the middle 1970’s. Musical sound diversity covers a wide range of instrumentation including horns, strings and synthesizer as well as the classic organ, piano and guitar sounds. All music is performed live with no pre-recorder tracks.

Top Dog was formed in 2007 by vocalist Tommy Lynn and guitarist/keyboardist/vocalist Bobby Wassmuth. The two went through several line-up and name changes before settling on their current moniker and group, which now includes Freddy Villano on bass & vocals, Tim Martin on drums & vocals and John Rodriguez on lead guitar & vocals. Top Dog covers the best Top 40 from the past four decades, some southern rock, a little blues & as ALWAYS...some good old hard Rock & Roll!
Top Dog’s specific arsenal includes a tribute to the ‘80’s that runs the gamut from John Cougar Mellencamp to Poison to Duran Duran. They also rock a contemporary set that features the music of Green Day, My Chemical Romance, RHCP, etc. Their own smoking renditions of classic songs like “Ain’t to Proud to Beg,” “Get Ready,” “No Matter What” and “Long Cool Woman in a Black Dress” are sure to be legendary on the Long Island circuit.

Trax TRAX is a 5-piece coverband. This powerhouse of talent begins with an amazing vocalist, Liz Berkowitz, who fronts the band, covering anything from Evanescence to Donna Summer and everyone in-between. Along with Roger Mancini (keys, guitar, vocals), Vinnie Sisser (drums), Frank Trombino (bass, vocals), and Bobby Lame (guitar, vocals). Trax is able to go from rock, to dance, to today's hit radio.
This is a MUST see, very versatile band.

Tru Believers  The band was first conceived in 1999 as the Millennium Shockers out of Washington, DC. After performing at local venues throughout the area for a few years, they took a small break and re-formed the group as the Tru Believers in 2003.
This group’s repertoire stretches from reggae, calypso, rock, and jazz. Basically, they represent the essence of American roots music. Their influences range from the Abyssinians, Bob Marley, Jacob Miller, Miles Davis, Grateful Dead, Chicago, and others. Tru Believers sound is one of heavy hammering bass and drums with dazzling keys and clinching guitars. Let’s not forget the essential congas that provide the foundation of roots rock.
Yusuf Greene(lead vocalist) has been compared to the likes of Jacob Miller, Yusuf is the expression of Tru Believers. Carlos Richard’s (bassist) sound and technique of playing is greatly influenced by jazz and roots reggae. He got his first start at playing bass in a jazz band. Denatra Lewis (keyboardist/vocalist) has astonishing skills which include songwriting. Barry Richard (drummer/vocalist) plays over six instruments, including the trumpet and keyboard. He got an early start with music as a young child. Adrian Richard (percussionist/congas) has an extensive background in music. He has played calypso and reggae for most of his life back in the Virgin Islands. Kareem John (guitarist), the youngest of the band, has been studying music for years and has been linked up with other rock bands from the DC area.
When people describe their music, words like optimism and inspiring are often used. The Tru Believers' gift has been to inspire and uplift in a conscious party as they deliver tracks like “Tru Believers” inspired by the present day struggles faced all over the world. Catchy phrases like "never loose faith" seem less like fantasy and more like possibility when the Tru Believers are performing.
Without preaching or vilifying, the Tru Believers sing about the world as they see it and as it could be. They sing about oppression and their history, but the music does not carry a message of exclusion or retribution and as they comment on the human struggle, problems, and tribulations that face us all, the Tru Believers never lose sight of the fact that music is a celebration.
